Chinchillas need hay in front of them at all times and a cage that stays bone dry. The Bunvora Bunny Station handles both: a slatted hay rack that holds a day’s hay upright, and a raised litter tray with a stainless grid so your chinchilla never sits on damp litter.
Why a dry cage matters more for chinchillas
Chinchillas come from a high, dry climate and their dense coat holds moisture badly. Damp bedding is one of the most common causes of fur and skin trouble in captive chinchillas. The elevated stainless steel grid keeps them above the tray, and the disposable liner underneath is pulled out and replaced rather than scrubbed — so the wood never stays wet.
Hay, all day, without the mess
- Hay should make up the majority of a chinchilla’s diet and needs topping up daily.
- Loose hay on the cage floor gets scattered, soiled and thrown out — the rack keeps it usable.
- The slats let your chinchilla pull single strands rather than dragging out a mouthful.
- Pellets and treats go in the two stainless bowls instead of being tipped over.
Chew-safe by design
Chinchillas chew everything, so the station is built from solid pine panels with a pet-safe finish rather than coated chipboard, and the bowls and grid are 304 food-grade stainless steel. Chew toys are included in the box. As with any wooden accessory, check it regularly and replace parts once they have been chewed down.
Size and placement
The unit is 55.5 x 29 x 30 cm (21.9 x 11.4 x 11.8 in). In a tall multi-level chinchilla cage, place it on the base level against a back wall, in the corner your chinchilla already uses. Leave the dust bath somewhere separate — it should never sit next to the litter tray.
Cleaning routine
Sweep the loose hay with the included brush and dustpan, lift out the steel grid, pull the used liner and drop in a fresh one. No scrubbing, no taking the frame apart — the magnetic modules come away in seconds and click back together.
